Gold Calculator Singapore: 6 Free Tools to Buy, Save and Sell Gold
Share
By Fazil Thaha, Faz Gold
FAZ Gold has six free gold tools on our website: a gold calculator for Singapore buyers, a monthly savings plan, a gold price alert, a sell gold calculator and two history tools. They are completely free to use, with no fee, no sign up and no obligation to buy or sell anything. This guide explains each one in plain words, so you can pick the right tool and use it in under a minute.
Where to find the free tools
You can reach every tool in three ways:
- On the homepage. Right under the banner there is a "Free Gold Tools" section with six cards. Tap any card to open that tool.
- The gold button on every page. At the bottom left of every page there is a gold "Free Gold Tools" button. Tap it to see a list of all six tools.
- The main menu. Open the "Free Tools" menu at the top of the site.
One more handy feature: our collection pages, such as gold bars and silver bars, have a search box. Type a brand such as PAMP or Argor, or a weight such as 1oz, and you will see only those bars.
1. What Can I Buy (gold calculator Singapore)
What it is: you enter your budget and the calculator shows which gold or silver bars in stock fit, and how many you can get.
Who it helps: anyone who has a set amount of money and is not sure which bar to choose.
- Open the What Can I Buy calculator.
- Choose Gold or Silver.
- Type your budget in Singapore dollars.
- See the best option, the total metal, what is left over and the average cost per gram. Tap "Add this to cart" if you want it.
Tip: bigger bars usually cost less per gram, because our premium (the small amount a dealer adds on top of the raw metal price) is spread over more metal. The prices shown are our live selling prices with the premium already included.
2. Monthly Savings Plan (DCA calculator)
What it is: Dollar Cost Averaging (DCA) simply means putting the same amount of money into gold every month, whether the price is high or low. This calculator shows what such a plan would have built up.
Who it helps: people who want to save a little every month instead of buying all at once.
- Open the Monthly Savings Plan calculator.
- Choose Gold or Silver.
- Enter a monthly amount in SGD and pick a start month (you can go back as far as January 2000).
- See how much you put in, how many grams you built up, what it is worth today, your gain and a chart.
Tip: the calculator also compares your monthly plan with putting the whole amount in at once, so you can see the difference for yourself.
3. If I Had Bought (historical gold calculator)
What it is: it shows what a single amount spent on gold or silver in a past month would be worth today.
Who it helps: anyone curious about how gold has done over the years, or who wants to understand long term price moves.
- Open the historical calculator.
- Choose Gold or Silver and enter an amount in SGD.
- Pick the month you imagine buying in.
- See the grams bought, the value today, the total gain, the gain per year and a price chart.
Tip: the per year figure is the fairest way to compare different start months.
4. Gold/Silver Ratio
What it is: the gold to silver ratio tells you how many ounces of silver you can buy with one ounce of gold. This tool shows the live ratio, the average, highest and lowest since 2000, and a chart.
Who it helps: people deciding whether to add gold or silver next.
- Open the Gold/Silver Ratio tool.
- Read today's ratio and compare it with the long run average.
- Use the converter to turn ounces of gold into ounces of silver, or the other way round.
Tip: a high ratio means silver is cheap compared with gold, and a low ratio means gold is cheap compared with silver. It is one signal, not a prediction.
A plain word on the history figures
The Monthly Savings Plan and If I Had Bought tools use World Bank monthly average gold and silver prices, converted to Singapore dollars with the US Federal Reserve USD/SGD rate. They leave out dealer premiums and storage costs, so real results would differ. Past results do not guarantee future results.
5. Gold price alert Singapore: the Gold Rate Alert
What it is: you set the price you want, and we send you one email when our live price reaches it.
Who it helps: anyone waiting for a better price to buy, or a better price to sell.
- Open the Gold Rate Alert page and choose "I want to BUY" or "I want to SELL".
- Pick a product.
- Enter your target price in SGD for one piece.
- Add your name and email and tap "Set my rate alert".
A buy alert is sent when our selling price is at or below your target. A sell alert is sent when our buyback price (the price we pay you when you sell to us) is at or above your target. We check prices every 10 minutes, and they include our premium, exactly as you would pay or receive in store.
Tip: you can have up to 5 active alerts per email, and alerts expire after 90 days. The confirmation email may land in your spam folder the first time, so check there.
6. Sell gold calculator Singapore
What it is: the Sell Calculator shows what we pay for your 999 or 999.9 gold and silver bars today, before you come in.
Who it helps: anyone thinking of selling bars.
- Open the sell gold calculator.
- Choose "Gold Bars 999 / 999.9" or "Silver Bars 999 / 999.9".
- Tap +1 next to each bar you own.
- See the payout per bar and the total.
Tip: the figure is indicative. The final price is confirmed at the counter after testing and weighing, and you need valid photo ID to sell. For jewellery or lower purity gold, see our gold buyback rates page or message us for a quote. Our guide on where to sell gold in Singapore explains the options.
Which tool should I use?
- "I have S$2,000 and want to buy gold." Use What Can I Buy.
- "I want to save a little every month." Use the Monthly Savings Plan.
- "I want to sell my bars." Use the Sell Calculator.
- "I am waiting for a better price." Use the Gold Rate Alert.
- "I wonder what gold bought years ago is worth now." Use If I Had Bought.
- "Should I add gold or silver next?" Check the Gold/Silver Ratio.
To repeat: every tool is completely free. There is no fee, no sign up and no obligation to buy or sell. Use them as often as you like. If you are new to bullion, our guide to how much a gold bar costs in Singapore is a good next read, and you can browse our silver coins too.
